What you’ll need:
- 2 cups distilled water
- 1oz vodka (unflavored!)
- 3 tbsp. aloe vera
- 1/2 cup of chamomile flowers
- 3/4 cup fresh rose petals
- glass spray bottle
What to do:
Place the washed rose petals and dried chamomile flowers in a large pot and add your distilled water and vodka. Cover with a lid and let simmer until the petals lose their color (about 25 minutes.) Strain and pour you floral water into a dark glass container until cool. Meanwhile- you can prepare the aloe vera by slicing a thick leaf open along it’s center and using a spoon to scrape the gel from it’s length. Add 3 tablespoons of fresh aloe to the cooled floral water. Shake vigorously until well-combined and store in the fridge. I keep mine in a dark glass bottle with a steel spray-top until i’m ready to use it. (It’s good for about 10-12 days)
Shake bottle and heavily mist your face, body and scalp– paying special attention to areas with a darker tan or sunburn.
Here’s why:
Aloe vera will intensely hydrate your skin. Since it contains a lot of antioxidants and nutritional properties, the skin is able to prevent moisture from escaping, which in turn heals your sunburn quickly– and retains your tan. It also reduces the temporary redness brought on by exposure to UV rays. Rose Water boosts mood, stimulates relaxation & simultaneously hydrates and soothes the skin. Chamomile has an active ingredient known as bisabolol, which is responsible for giving its blossoms amazing anti-inflammatory properties. This soothes your skin after being in sand, sun or saltwater. Sunscreen before & chamomile after! This blend is packed with an antioxidants that helps to fight against the free radicals that damage skin cells after sun exposure .
BONUS: This blend can soothe insect bites as well.
