Natural Beauty: Mint Chocolate Chip Body Butter

Our skin may be buried under layers of sweater and wool, but taking the extra time to tend to it will make a world of difference. The best fit for this recipe is Cocoa butter, a rich moisturizer that conditions and renews skin. It’s antioxidants provide a barrier between the body and environmental, internal, and external forces that can cause irritation or damage to the skin.  +Bonus: This light butter smells like a double scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream on a summer day. So spoil your skin this season, and give this blend a try.  After a shower or a soak:  lather your skin with this luxurious body butter to seal in hydration. Before bed: coat your feet in a generous layer of butter & put on a thick pair of socks. If you’re really feeling lavish, coat your hands & knuckles and sleep with a set of cotton gloves on– your hands will be reborn by morning. To top it all off, this is also a great post-shave remedy for men & women alike.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup raw cocoa butter
  • 1 cup + 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 2 drops chocolate extract (optional)

Combine coconut oil and cocoa butter in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until melted. Give a moment to cool, then add your essential oils. Pour into a metal or glass mixing bowl and place in the fridge to chill until solid. Once your mixture turns an opaque white, remove it from the fridge and beat on high for about 10 minutes until it gets light and fluffy. Store in an airtight glass jar and be sure to find it a room temperature/dark home to prevent melting, which would change the texture.
